Pre-purchase (free) Alien Swarm... on steam

http://store.steampowered.com/app/630/

Might be worth a look at for the grand total of $0.

It's not bad, pretty rough on hard mode with 2 people. I don't know if it gets any tougher as you level up though, not sure if the monsters/number of them scale in difficulty to match your level, maybe you're supposed to level up before playing through on hard/insane modes :P

I had this confused with the free-to-play game (with cash shop; like that's any surprise) where you choose between two sides. You have the aliens (which are controlled rts style), pitted against the marines (which are played fps).

Will download it just for the fact that it's Diablo with guns.

Toss me on your lists, I'm my name minus the E because some bastard stole it even though I had steam within months of it going live. I'm sure it was the guy I sold my DAOC account to which was when I started using this nick, and I'd never seen anybody using it before, now I know there's at least 2 bastids in the US using it.

Axclown, NOT axeclown, but one day I'll figure out a way to get his account removed and take it, then, I'll build a moon base and take over the world...

-edit.

Ok maybe it's Axeclown after all, it doesn't show the E for me though, but it comes up on search as me. Try both and add the one with the crazy looking clown face.

The people using "Axeclown" in the U.S are probably just ICP fans

I still remember the rage when people first realised they needed to d@#% around with steam to keep playing CS. Ah, the good ol' days. Nothing beats nerd rage at a net cafe.

But there were no matches for it on any search engine! Now, it's all over the place.

I can't remember if I was annoyed at steam or not, other than when it broke down, as it frequently did in the early days.

Ooo I didn't know this game tracked stats. Let the statwhoring begin!

3,303 Total Kills
743Avg Kills Per Hour
24,569 Total Shots Fired
87.02% Avg Accuracy
620 Total Friendly Fire
13,288 Total Damage Taken
2,991 Total Healing
0 Total Fast Hacks

See Koen, I was hitting stuff! Now to work on upping that friendly fire score a lot...

My accuracy should be shit hot since all I can do is beat things with my heal pads

Chainsaws are the king of accuracy, except, you know, when you miss and hack up teammates then have to blame the ice for making you slip, or claim they looked like an alien...

Also, 2x chainsaw vs door = hilarity when the door falls over faster than the tech can hack the panel.

How far did we get in that insane run last night? Three missions in?

We're so pro I've started asking Johns if they're looking for a good time...

Haha yeah, I think that's all we managed.

Might be a few days before I can keep going, had a HDD decide to start cratering today so I'm rescuing everything off it before it fucks up entirely. Normally it wouldn't be a problem, but I was already pushed for space from having to shift stuff around for other projects, so I pretty much need to get this one RMA'd and replaced before I can make the space for steam again.

-edit

All fixed and ready to go.

Why pay for a single player only version, when you can play the multiplayer thing online, for free!

Nyd & myself are too busy playing Company of Heroes anyway, and my brother has joined in too. We need another player for 2v2 rotating teams...

Boars said he was going to give it a whirl, but I think he's been too busy moving house and paying mortgages.
